Really quick update: WE'RE OK!

Goodness I just can't get my head around Mother Nature. Last week I was letting you know my family and loved ones were safely away from the earthquake in New Zealand. Now today Japan has been hit by a "great" earthquake (8.8 or 8.9 magnitude). Luckily, we're well away from the immediate danger of the earthquake but we have been under tsunami warning since we live just a couple of kilometres from the sea (1.3 miles to be exact).

See the 'A' on the map? That's us. See the blue area? That's Osaka Bay. A fifteen minute walk away.

Fortunately, there's nothing to report, we're all safe and sound. I just hope my friends further north are too. And thanks for your kind messages everyone.

  6. Hi Jacqui. You're the first person I thought of when I heard of the Tsunami. I am Natalie from New York. A few years back I bought the Piggy goes to party bag from you. Gosh, I can't imagine how distubing this must feel, especially since you are also so connected to N'Zeland. I'm just relieved you are all fine, and wish the same to all your friends and loved ones. Take care and God bless.

  8. Know of you through Kiwi Mummy Blogs. I'm horrified by what we are seeing on television - it's very raw so soon after Christchurch. Glad you are ok. My heart goes out to the Japanese people. Stay safe.

  15. HI Jacqui
So glad to hear you are all ok, the footage we see on the news is just so terrible.
Do you know of any group that is crocheting or sewing to help. I have crochet a few baby caps, for newborns, that I was going to give to our local hospital, but I would like to send them to Japan for the new babies over there, especially seeing it is your winter as well.

Do you have any idea where I could send them to?

  16. Thanks everyone, it's been a gut-wrenching day and even though I am not in the thick of it I feel a bit ill from the constant thought of it all and from the TV news. We have just checked in on the news very briefly, it's frightening for the kids, who of course were both home today.
Danielle, you're so very kind. I tried to search for something for you but came up empty-handed. I'd suggest trying to send things along to your local Save the Children or Red Cross who will be bringing supplies over.
